June 9th Offers Us the Opportunity to Create Community
The Greater Falls Farmers’ Market has a number goals this year: to help build a stronger local foods system, to offer an opportunity for us all to create the community we want to live in, to be the change we want to see, and to have fun while we are working on these goals. Please join us this week as we weave together some of the threads that make our community such a wonderful one.
This week, Friends for Change will engage the younger set with fun children’s activities. Our beloved Market volunteer, Holly, will have her super fun scavenger hunt (participating children get a Market Buck for completing the hunt!), and she will also talk about healthy food choices with her Silly Water activity.
There will be music in the air, with a favorite of the Putney Farmers’ Market, fiddler Nate Paine. Nate heard the last minute call out for music this week, and volunteered to join us to fill the market with toe-tapping tunes.
As for vendors, well, there will certainly be diversity in what you will find at this week’s market. Please read on for a full description of who our vendors are and what they will bring to market.

Grandview Gourmet Westminster, Vermont
Dylan brought a lovely array of fresh bread to the market last week. The country white made the most amazing french toast Saturday morning, made with Eventide View Farm’s eggs, homemade vanilla extract and a bit of cinnamon. Go on over to his tent to sample what he brings this week–you are sure to enjoy it.

Livewater Dairy Westminster West, VT
Livewater Farm is a grass based dairy farm offering their own farm made cheeses. They set out their buckets earlier this year to bring you maple syrup and maple syrup candies. Interested in hormone-free and antibiotic free, farm raised meats? Stop by and talk with Taylor about what he has this week.
Our Place Bellows Falls, Vermont
Our Place does so much for our local community and stopping by this booth and buying a treat or two will help support them in all the philanthropic work they do. Lisa told me earlier today that at a minimum, Our Place will offer blueberry muffins, chocolate chip cookies, and peanut butter brownies. Some of you may not know that Our Place often uses locally gleaned ingredients in the foods they prepare.
Pete’s Stand Walpole, Vermont
This local favorite will have kale, spinach, beet greens and swiss chard at this week’s market. It was so great to see Teresa smiling and chatting with customers at last week’s market. Pete’s Stand has a loyal following for a reason! They are a great group of people committed to their customers. Pete’s Stand’s Friend of the Market Special is 10% off your Purchase.
Witness Oak Nursery Rockingham, Vermont
Looking for new edibles for your yard? Witness Oak has a unique collection of fruit bearing shrubs and trees for you to select one or two new additions. Not sure of what to grow in that certain spot in your yard? Talk with Devin–he is sure to have a great suggestion. Last week Devin brought along the most beautiful looking strawberry plants, and super delicious Yukon plants. I’m thinking he will most likely offer a Friend of the Market Special again this week.
All in all, there is a wide array of locally produced delights in store at this week’s market.
See you at the Market.
